Beating the ‘Blue Monday’ Blues !
Today we have arrived at what is often thought of as being the most depressing day and week of the year.
“Blue Monday” as it is often called was originally identified in 2005 by academic Cliff Arnall, as being the last full week of January.
He calculated the date using a variety of factors including weather conditions, debt levels, failed New Year’s resolutions, the number of days that had elapsed since the end of the Christmas holidays, low motivation and the need to take action.
Christmas has passed and credit card bills need to be paid. The extent of the Christmas overspend is very visible in the bills that have arrived.
By mid-January it is usually all too apparent that the clothing feels a little tighter and the early optimism of the New Year’s resolutions to get fit and lose weight, has started to fade.
To combat this ‘fatigue’ try to introduce new exercise routines or if relatively fit, increase exercise levels to stimulate endorphins. Even short bursts of exercise help to lift your mood.
To also help with ‘Blue Monday’ Silvergrey is running a number of promotions along with a Facebook competition to win one of our bestselling Noosa Blue training tops.
Simply like this page and share with all your Facebook friends to enter. The draw will be held at 1pm (AEST) on Friday 23 Jan 2015.
Good luck and take comfort that we are half way through January already!
