A Hike around the Kondalilla Falls NP
For the ninth in this series of blogs I recommend NP for an energetic hike.
This is one of my favourite walks in the Sunshine Coast and offered both fantastic views and the opportunity to cool off in the rock pools at the top of the falls.
There are two ways in which to tackle this one. The easy option is to stick to the picnic circuit. This is relatively flat apart from the descent and climb to and from the car park. This can easily be done in about 40 mins.
If you are after more of a challenge, then follow the staircase down to the rock pools and then further still, to the bottom of the falls and back. Including this loop to the picnic circuit adds another hour to the walk.
There are about 140 stairs down to the rock pools which you obviously feel more when climbing back up. These are excellent for the calorie burn. I have no idea how many steps there are to the bottom and back but enough to make your legs wobble.
It can get a little slippy underfoot at the bottom of the falls so always wear good shoes and insect repellant is a must.
After you have completed the circuit, hop back in the car and reward yourself with a delicious cake from Mayfield’s. Their cakes are to die for.
