Moffat to Kings Beach run
For the 8th day of Advent, I thought I would choose one of my personal favourites.
This run offers spectacular views both up and down the coast from Moffat Heads as well as the challenge of steep climbs at Moffat and Shelly Beaches.
Start at the car park in Moffat. Properly warm up because the first thing you will be met with is the climb up past the Queen of the Colonies memorial before heading down and then up to Moffat Heads. From there it is downhill on the sandy path until you reach the second climb, rising from the car park at Shelly Beach. Once at the top of this one, then head steadily along to Kings.
I usually treat this one as a return trip, turning back from the Kings Beach surf club and tackling the climbs in reverse. Although you can easily continue along to Happy Valley and Bulcock Beach, I find the path along there gets much more congested.
A return trip can easily be completed in under an hour even allowing for a couple of stops to take in the views or in my case, to get my breath back.
For coffee I like the Pocket Expresso Bar although to be fair both Moffat and Kings have excellent refreshment options.
