Paddle Boarding on Currimundi Lake
On a very wet 6 December I thought it might be time for one that is not so much about hardwork but rather fun and exercise. Stand up paddling boarding ticks that box.
I have done this a number of times now, both with friends and on my own, and each time felt great while doing it and afterwards.
For those who haven’t tried it stand up paddle boarding is easy to pick up and provides an excellent work out for the abs and legs. There are varying reports as to how many calories burned over an hour, ranging between 400 and 1000 but I guess it depends on the conditions and how hard you go at it. I find it more a toning and core strength work out rather than a fat burner.
There is a hire shop at Currimundi Lake so no need to own your own board. The link to their site is below.
Simply turn up with a group of friends and give it ago. The boards are very steady so there is little chance of falling in. The lake is calm and shallow which helps for those starting out.
There is a coffee shop near the hire shop for post exercise refreshments.
