Walk this way
My fall back exercise has always been walking. It is a great rest day exercise if you have been training intensively, a fantastic way to clear your head if you need to do some thinking, and guess what, a very underestimated mechanism to get from A to B. It is also very very good for you.
Did you know that walking shortly after eating a meal can assist with weight loss? Walking improves glycemic control which in turn aids with weight loss. It is too much glucose in the blood that turns to fat. Walking helps to use that up before the body can store it.
It also assist with lowering blood pressure. This is not simply because it a therapeutic to be outside, stretching your legs, enjoying the fresh air. There are a host information available that demonstrates the effects that 30 mins of walking will have on glucose concentrations and resting blood pressure.
I personally find that it is a huge stress buster. When something is distracting me or is causing concern, I can switch off in a way that I cannot do with other exercise, and usually think my way around it. Walking does that for me. Try listening to your favourite tracks or even an audio book.
If your problems are first world, then head to the beaches or the woods and get your head free from those troubles.
